Dear Members and supporters of the California Heritage Council:

We have selected this year’s awards recipients and have put together a number of them to visit on Thursday, May 22, 2008. The properties for this delightful field trip are located in the North Bay region, all within an easy drive for a single day’s journey.

We will start in Petaluma with the Ellis-Martin house (1197 E. Washington St) to arrive at 11:00 AM. After this visit we will adjourn a with a short to Dempsey’s Restaurant at 50 E. Washington St. for a no host lunch on their terrace overlooking the Petaluma River estuary.

After lunch we will drive over to the Napa Valley to arrive at the Castello Di Amorosa, the spectacular work of Daryl Sattui located at 4045 St. Helena Highway (AKA Highway 29) just south of Calistoga. Arrival at 2:00 PM with a tour of the castle and wine tasting after. Cost of tour and wine tasting is compliments Daryl Sattui.

At 4:00 pm we will arrive at the Culinary Institute of America’s Graystone Cellars, formerly the Christian Brother’s winery, a short drive south from the castle on Hwy 29 AKA 2555 Main Street in St. Helena. The tour will take us through the kitchens and grand spaces within this fabulous historic structure, After the tour we will enjoy an early dinner at Graystone Cellars Restaurant at 5:30. Cost of dinner for a single entrée and dessert: $45, includes tax and gratuity — wine extra. There is no corkage fee, so feel free to bring your ♡ Castle Wines!

For those of you who wish to stay overnight, Christopher’s Inn located in Calistoga a short drive from Greystone, is offering a very special pricing of their rooms at $125 for the modest units and $250 for the luxury suites. Next morning you will be treated to breakfast in bed and a self guided tour of some wineries in the area.
